Up to half of the UK's workforce spends up to 4 hours per day standing or walking and thereby use up to 20% more energy than their seated counterparts.
Besides being generally tiring, remaining upright for long periods can also cause heart and circulatory problems due to reduced muscular movement. It is therefore essential that anti-fatigue matting is used wherever possible to minimise these adverse affects.
With so many alterntive types of anti-fatigue matting available, the need for quantifiable performance is crucial, which is why we measure ours to determine the degree of fatigue experienced by the persons standing on them.
This value is measured using the standard ASTM D 2362 to determine resilience as a percentage of 'bounce' compared to the initial drop height.
